Comparative Study to Evaluate the Efficacy of Krishana Mrittika Lepa and Anu Tailam Pratimarsha Nasya in Managment of Avabahuka w.s.r. to Frozen Shoulder
Authors: Dr. Vandana , Dr. Seema Rani, Dr. Mohit Sharma
The text describes an Ayurvedic clinical study focused on Avabahuka (frozen shoulder), a Vata-related disorder affecting the shoulder joint. Avabahuka is compared with modern adhesive capsulitis, which causes pain, stiffness, and restricted shoulder movement. The study aims to explore traditional Ayurvedic treatments for this condition.
The research evaluates two treatment approaches: Krishna Mrittika (black soil) lepa and Anu Taila Pratimarsha Nasya, based on classical Ayurvedic references that describe their anti-inflammatory and therapeutic benefits. Krishna Mrittika is highlighted for its cooling, absorbent, and inflammation-reducing properties, while Anu Taila Nasya is traditionally recommended for Vata disorders affecting the upper body.
The study is designed as a comparative clinical trial involving 40 patients (20 in each group) over 20 days. Patients will be selected from OPD settings and assessed using both subjective symptoms (pain, restricted movement, muscle wasting) and objective investigations like X-rays and blood tests.
One group will receive Krishna Mrittika lepa applied externally, while the other will receive Anu Taila nasal therapy twice daily. The study aims to compare the effectiveness of both treatments in relieving symptoms of frozen shoulder and improving shoulder mobility.
