Peeling, itching, and cracking of the skin are unpleasant symptoms of dry skin. It becomes dry when it loses water too quickly. Stated differently, the root cause of the issue is dehydration.
Moisturizing Creams used for dry skin to prevent and cure it. They can also conceal flaws, enhance skin tone and texture, and shield delicate skin. The cream slows evaporation of water and provides a cooling and relaxing effect to the herbal extract incorporating cold cream. Since they create an oily barrier that stops water loss from the stratum corneum, the skin\'s outermost layer, cold creams are more hydrating. Herbal remedies or their extracts have been marketed as cosmetics and topical preparations. It might be a viable natural remedy for the problem of dry skin.
The study begins with an overview of the properties and benefits of herbal extract in skincare.
Introduction
This study focuses on the formulation and evaluation of a herbal cold cream using natural plant-based ingredients to moisturize and protect dry skin. Cold cream is a water-in-oil emulsion that provides prolonged skin contact, restores moisture, offers emollient effects, cools the skin, and is generally non-irritating. The research aimed to develop a safe and effective herbal cold cream with moisturizing, cooling, and skin-brightening properties while minimizing adverse effects.
The formulation was evaluated through various parameters, including pH, viscosity, spreadability, homogeneity, thermal stability, microbiological growth, irritation testing, saponification value, acid value, patch testing, dye testing, and physical characteristics to ensure product quality and safety.
The study highlights the importance of Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF), which helps the skin retain moisture, and explains how herbal ingredients can support skin hydration, regeneration, and healing. Herbs have been traditionally used to relieve dry skin, itching, irritation, and inflammation, and modern research supports their effectiveness.
A total of 29 medicinal plants were reviewed for their skincare benefits. Key ingredients include:
Calendula (Calendula officinalis): Rich in phytonutrients, reduces irritation and effectively treats dry and sensitive skin.
Aloe vera (Aloe barbadensis): Provides deep hydration, moisturizes the skin, helps retain moisture, and protects against UV damage.
Chamomile (Matricaria): Possesses anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antiseptic properties that soothe irritation and promote skin healing.
Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera): Helps balance skin moisture and rejuvenates the skin.
Other beneficial herbs and natural ingredients include sunflower oil, coconut oil, oatmeal, honey, neem, tulsi, turmeric, peppermint, almond oil, cocoa butter, grape seed oil, shea butter, pumpkin seed oil, papaya, and mango oil.
Conclusion
Due to the perception that natural treatments have fewer adverse effects than synthetic ones, the usage of natural remedies in personal care products is growing. The demand for herbal cosmetics in the market has increased as a result. The study\'s overall findings underscore the possible advantages of utilizing plant extracts in cosmetic formulations and stress the significance of natural remedies. As a result, if you still don\'t use oils for skin care, give one of the suggested ones a try to find the best fit for your skin type.
