The rapid growth of digital healthcare services has created new opportunities for improving patient access to medical consultation and pharmaceutical services. Traditional healthcare systems often require patients to physically visit hospitals or pharmacies, which can lead to delays, inconvenience, and overcrowding in medical facilities. This paper presents an Online Medicine Ordering and Doctor Appointment Booking Platform that enables users to consult doctors, schedule appointments, and order medicines through a unified digital interface. The proposed system integrates secure user authentication, online consultation scheduling, digital prescription management, and medicine ordering features. By utilizing modern web technologies and database-driven architecture, the platform ensures efficient appointment management and seamless pharmaceutical ordering. Experimental usage scenarios demonstrate improved accessibility to healthcare services, reduced waiting times, and enhanced patient convenience. The system aims to contribute to the growing field of digital healthcare by providing a reliable and scalable platform for remote medical services.
Introduction
Healthcare accessibility is often limited by inadequate hospital infrastructure, long waiting times, and inefficient appointment systems. Patients also face inconvenience when scheduling doctor visits and purchasing prescribed medicines. To address these issues, the proposed Online Medicine Ordering and Doctor Appointment Booking Platform integrates healthcare services into a single digital system that allows patients to book doctor appointments, consult doctors, and order medicines online.
Previous research mainly focused on telemedicine and appointment scheduling systems separately. However, most existing platforms do not combine appointment booking and medicine ordering. This project proposes a unified platform that connects patients, doctors, and pharmacies to improve healthcare accessibility and efficiency.
The system uses a layered architecture consisting of Presentation, Application, Database, and Integration layers, which manage user interaction, system logic, data storage, and communication between modules. Key modules include user registration and authentication, doctor appointment booking, prescription management, and online medicine ordering.
The platform is developed using technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React.js, Node.js, Express.js, Firebase Authentication, and MongoDB/Firebase Firestore, with REST APIs enabling communication between components. System evaluation through simulated interactions shows that the platform reduces appointment scheduling time and simplifies the process of obtaining medicines. Overall, the integrated system improves healthcare accessibility, reduces hospital congestion, and enhances the efficiency of healthcare service delivery.
Conclusion
This paper presented an Online Medicine Ordering and Doctor Appointment Booking Platform designed to improve accessibility to healthcare services. By integrating appointment scheduling and medicine ordering functionalities into a single digital system, the platform simplifies the interaction between patients, doctors, and pharmacies. The proposed system demonstrates the potential of digital healthcare technologies in improving service efficiency and patient convenience. Future enhancements can further expand the platform’s capabilities and contribute to the development of smart healthcare solutions
