Sowing is the most important process in farming. It is a very tiring and time consuming process that requires a lot of human effort. Here we propose the design and fabrication of semiautomatic seed sowing machine that complete this task. The proposed machine uses two high torque dc motors for running it in desired directions. We use a horizontal cylinder for dropping the seeds. Below the horizontal rotary drum we fix a funnel like hopper arrangement in order to pour seeds into a lower container.
The front side of this machine we mount four quantity of faros utilized to dropping the inside the soil. There we use dc gear motor drive horizontal cylinder to drop the limited quantity of seeds and pour them on the ground in a steady manner in proper quantity. The back side of machine a bent plate is fitted that drags on the soil to make a horizontal level of soil
All the operation easily control by control keys on remote. Thus the system completely semi automated the seed sowing process using a smartly designed mechanical system require electrical power utilsed from dc dry battery which is charge from solar power .
Introduction
Overview:
The seed sowing machine is designed to improve productivity for small-scale farmers by automating the sowing process. It reduces manual labor, ensures uniform seed distribution, and is cost-effective due to the use of common raw materials and a shared seed storage unit. The only significant cost component is the metering device. The machine provides adjustable depth and spacing, making it suitable for various types of seeds.
Problem Identification:
Agriculture is the main livelihood in rural India, supporting a large population with limited land and water resources.
Traditional manual sowing methods are inefficient, labor-intensive, and result in:
Uneven seed distribution
Poor control over depth
Higher labor demand
While seed drill technology has advanced, many modern machines are expensive and not suited for small farms.
No-till drills and press drills were major historical innovations, helping conserve soil moisture and prevent erosion.
Literature Review Highlights:
Semi-Automatic Seed Sowing Vehicle
Places seeds at consistent depth and spacing, covers them with soil.
Reduces labor and cost.
Automatic Seed Sowing with Moisture Control (ARM Controller)
Uses sensors to detect soil moisture and automate sowing.
Controlled via IoT, suitable for small-scale farmers.
Materials and Methods:
Design: Semi-automatic robotic system powered by four motors for movement.
Seed Dispensing:
Horizontal rotating cylinder driven by a DC gear motor regulates seed flow.
Funnel system directs seeds into the soil.
Ploughing & Covering:
Front plate creates a groove for seeds.
Rear rod covers the seeds with soil.
Outcome: A compact, low-cost, efficient machine that automates seed sowing, enhances accuracy, and reduces manual labor.
Conclusion
Seed sowing machine is designed for small farmers to improve their productivity. In this machine a common seed storage place is introduced to reduce the cost of the machine.
This machine can be made by raw materials also which saves the cost of whole project and is easily manufactured in available workshops. The only cost is of metering device.Hence by using this machine we can achieve flexibility of distance and control depth variation for different seeds. Hence usable to all seeds. This is completely eco friendly project.,Reliable system.,Concept related to automation system.
