With the advancement of the crime rate security is having its alarming significance for school children. The safety mechanism to the children travelling from school to home and vice versa is very important. This project aims to provide total security for school children. Two counters are used at the entrance and exit location of the bus as well one at the entrance of school. The school children are required to scan their tags and the corresponding messages will be sent to their parent’s cell phone. Thus, child arrival and departure details will be regularly sent to parents using GSM technology. Ensuring the safety of school children during their daily commute is a growing concern for parents and educational institutions. This project proposes an RFID-based transportation safety system designed to monitor and enhance the security of students traveling to and from school. Each student is issued an RFID tag, which is scanned by an RFID reader installed on the school bus whenever the student boards or deboards. The system is controlled by a microcontroller (such as Arduino or Raspberry Pi) that records the event and, with the help of a GSM or IoT module, sends real-time notifications to parents and school administrators.
The system can be further enhanced by integrating a GPS module to track the bus location and provide live updates on route and estimated arrival times. All data is stored in a centralized database, allowing for attendance tracking and historical trip logs. This solution not only improves safety and accountability but also offers peace of mind to parents and better operational control for schools. By leveraging RFID and communication technologies, the project presents a cost-effective, scalable, and reliable method to enhance school transportation safety
