Artificial Intelligence (AI), defined as computer systems simulating human intelligence through technologies like machine learning and natural language processing, offers adaptive, personalized, and interactive educational environments.
AI’s importance in education is growing as it enhances student engagement, provides real-time feedback, supports teachers in curriculum and classroom management, and improves accessibility, especially in remote areas. It also enables data-driven decision-making to boost academic performance.
Market data shows the AI in education sector is rapidly expanding, projected to grow from around $4 billion in 2023 to over $20 billion by 2030, with widespread adoption of AI tools like automated grading, adaptive learning platforms, and virtual tutors. These tools improve student engagement by about 30% and reduce teacher workload by up to 40%, with leading adoption in countries like the USA, China, UK, South Korea, and Singapore.
AI applications in education span several categories, including adaptive learning systems, intelligent tutoring, automated administrative tools, content creation, predictive analytics, virtual classrooms, and language processing—demonstrating AI’s broad role beyond instruction alone.
The literature review underscores AI’s transformative potential, emphasizing that successful implementation requires collaboration among educators, policymakers, and communities, ethical considerations, and updated curricula and teacher training to harness AI’s benefits fully. AI automates routine tasks, enabling teachers to focus more on student interaction, while providing immediate feedback to students, thereby enhancing learning outcomes.
