The location of the Annasaheb Dange Group of Institute,Ashta is a part of community that can be made into attraction for stakeholders like students, parent and society, for ed- ucational brilliance including scenic views, as well as trees and plants. The educational institute has undertaken various efforts to share the information about academic excellence as cultural and sports excellence through portals and web pages. However, the method of information delivery - display and delivery of static text and pictures which is not that effec- tive to the viewers eyes. As a consequence, stakeholder are unable to interact or appreciate the experience of being in actual location. Therefore, this project will create a educational campus virtual tour for more interaction between campus and students ,it will be design to enhance experience of the stakeholder for informational purpose. For that we will be using Unity3d software. Unity 3d is a development tool which is used in the virtual reality system for the creation of the virtual campus and embeding 3d animations. We will also be using Forger app for making certain irregular object like statues, benches, trees, plants, etc.
I. INTRODUCTION
The educational campus virtual tour is a new approach to advertise the campus environment to improve the visibility, experience and ensure sustainability in delivering various informa- tion about the educational institute to stakeholders. The educational campus virtual tour can be implemented formally as well as informally to reach a wider scope of educational campus residents.
Stakeholders thus obtain the power to make decisions and the ability to summarize the tour based on their experience. The educational campus provides unique experience consisting of interaction with different community and local societies. The unique location of the educational campus helps stakeholders to link the place with nature and culture. This project will help the stakeholder to interact with the institute at their remote location. We will be adding various feature into the virtual tour like advertorial infomation of each and every department in the institute, realtime syncronized experience in the virtual tour, interactive 3d objects which defines the institute.
A. Advantages
It has the potential to stimulate advertisement of actual educational institute tour.
We can use virtual aids to prepare the stakeholders ahead of the virtual experience.
By taking a virtual tour, you obviously have more freedom and flexibility in terms of both time and place.
One of the good things about virtual tour is that it has very little impact on the environment.
Travel life accounts for huge emissions and this is of course minimized when the stake- holders doesn’t actually travel. Virtual tour means less CO2 emission.
B. Disadvantages
No matter how you look at it, the virtual is just a recreation of reality. You see this reality world through the eyes of the developer and may miss important details.
Virtual tour is not available to everyone. Not everyone has access to the digital surfaces required to implement it.
Virtual tour is that it involves limited social interaction.
So, for all the above following discussed advantages and disadvantages we are going to pro- vide an efficient solution to all the following demerits and will work for the most convenient product.
II. LITERATURE SURVEY
Accorrding to work of, Dr. Hiresh Luhar et al [1.] International tourism is at the fore- front of these developments, the tourism market’s reliance on the Internet is increasing, and the tourism digitalization process is moving at a rapid pace. The adoption of emerging technology has resulted in a shift in the tourism industry’s positions, with new forms and content. International tourism is now poised to take advantage of yet another technological advance, virtual reality. Manuel Castells, a well-known sociologist and modernity specialist, coined the phrase ”culture of real virtuality” in the late twentieth century. Virtualization is currently gaining popularity as a new effective technology that affects all aspects of human society. It’s important to remember that the number of people who use virtual reality (VR) is exponentially increasing. Experts predict that ”in two years, the number of active VR users will exceed 171 million people, and the market will expand to 70 billion dollars by 2020.” In this paper, Cosmina ISAR et al [2.] we conclude that virtual reality represents a pow- erful that can empower people by allowing them to create astonishing projects. Therefore, anyone who is willing to develop a virtual reality game can easily start by using the Unity game engine, because it is simple to use, learn and has all the documentation well organized on their website. At the same time, being so popular it has a lot of third party support from the entire community which makes it more accessible.
According to the work of, Cosmina ISAR et al [2.] Virtual reality (VR), also known as virtuality, is a technology that involves experiencing various things through our computers, things that don’t exist. In other words, virtual reality also represents a believable, inter- active 3D computer generated world in which people can explore and interact, thus making them feel like they are there, both physically and mentally.
According to the work of, Dr.Senthil Kumar.M et al [3.] The virtual tour are introduced very long time ago in the field of Virtual Reality . The virtual tour is still developing and many researchers are working to resolve existing problems and for the development of the field. The virtual tour is becoming popular because it is easy to use and allow integration with other fields. They proposed a system that develops an android - based application to view a virtual tour of there college (SRM Valliammai Engineering, CSE Department) using unity 3D. They Also provide a facility for searching a location of the lab, student, staff room, etc.By using this project Many people wish to discover the college environments and facilities, Due to their busy schedules and work they may not be able to visit the college campus. This Project requires a VR Headset for a better virtual environment. The Project brings an essential way to experience our college virtually.
According to the work of, Suwarno et al[4.] The use of virtual reality provides another al- ternative as a campus promotion media by providing an in-depth experience for users. This application provides an alternative for users to quickly get around famous without having to visit the campus physical building. adding a digital guide that contains instructions on how to navigate through the application.
The Article”FORGER The mobile sculpting app designed for artists, by artists” author MAXON stated that [5.] Forger features an intuitive multi touch interface and a large range of tools. So you can start creating 3D models for films, games, 3D print them, or even walk among them thanks to augmented reality. Whether you’re a professional working in film- making, game development or character animation, or you’re just a budding young artist, Forger allows you creatively explore and bring your ideas to life.
According to the work of, Yang Kuang [6.]The first question to make a virtual reality system is to create a virtual scene. This virtual scene should be made up with factors which including three-dimensional (3d) model, 3d animation, video, sound, etc. Because people’s vision is the most sensitive, the 3d model for the spread of information is the largest, and creating a realistic scenario model and a real-time dynamic display effect for virtual reality system is very important. Unity 3d is a development tool of which often used in the virtual reality system, but the scene model making function and 3d animation production ability are not good, 3DS MAX is powerful and very popular 3d modeling software. It is suitable to make 3d model for virtual reality system. The article ”What Is Blender (Software)? – Simply Explained” author All3DP stated that [7.] Blender is a free and open-source 3D creation suite that supports pretty much every aspect of 3D development. With a strong foundation of modeling capabilities, there’s also robust texturing, rigging, animation, lighting, and a host of other tools for complete 3D creation. This software is great whether you want to deal only with static models or get into the world of animation. The article ”Blender to Unity ” author ALL3DP stated that[8.]An extremely popular open-source tool, Blender is used for 3D modeling, animation, rendering, sculpting, visual effects, and more. Being so popular, Blender files are commonly used for game creation, and this is why some find it useful to exchange files from this platform into Unity. Although it can be quite painless to import Blender files to Unity, there are a few very important details that can make life much easier when doing so.
III. PROBLEM STATEMENT
The primary purpose of this project is to empirically provide an amazing virtual experience of the actual campus of Annasaheb Dange Group of Institute. This application is to be build using Unity3D Editor, Forger. This virtual tour will allow users to navigate throughout the campus seamlessly.
IV. OBJECTIVES
???????V. SCOPE
Creating Virtual tour saves time and money on visits. It helps to show multiple properties at same time,we can have personalized campus viewing experience.A virtual tour allows the viewer to easily access any place at any time, backtrack or linger at their discretion. They can easily access the tour through their web browser or mobile device and control the pace and direction of the tour every step of the way.
VI. PROPOSED WORK
???????A. Methodology
The main purpose of the methodology is turning a designed workplace (2D layout) into virtual reality compatible form. It is a relatively complex process consisting of several tasks that need to be done. After completion of every necessary step, the user can walk through the created virtual workplace using a VR headset and additional accessories. such as controller (joystick). However, before the creation of a virtual workplace, some preparations are required. User must collect all necessary materials and references, such as layout, 3D models or dimensions. After that, the process of building the virtual workplace using Unity 3D can begin. A flowchart is presented in Figure 1. to ensure that methodology is straightforward and easy to understand. This flowchart shows all the necessary task and requirements for the project’s completion step by step. The blue colour represents the preparation phase, where the user gathers and analyse all necessary data. These will serve as a foundation for the next stage to ensure accurate workplace design and visualization. The yellow colour represents the task done in the game engine Unity 3D. That includes 3D modelling of assets, virtual workplace creation and interaction programming. Fi- nally, the design must be tested and found shortcomings corrected.
???????B. Modules
This is the first and most basic step that illustrates a 2D view of the campus, in other words, floor plan map indicates the appropriate co-ordinates and widths of var- ious structures throughout the project. The floor map will be made by tracing the satellite image and making a floor plan.
2. Module-2: To create particular textures for various surfaces:
As the title says, this module aims towards giving similar textures to the virtual objects as we see it in real-world. It focuses towards the detailing part of the appearance of various structures (buildings, sign-boards, etc). In this module we will be creating various objects like building, class room, trees, ground, statue etc.
Using Forger, Unity3d and blender. And place the object (building, trees, statue) in the virtual space in the Unity 3d according to the floor map.
3. Module-3: To generate and bake realtime global illumination lighting conditions:
This module mainly deals with the brightness of light at various places (indoor and amp; outdoor). This module will help ensure that optimal lighting conditions are applied so as to highlight the details, as we see it in real-life.
4. Module-4: Add an onscreen mini-map:
The sole purpose of this module is to give an overview of the complete map from the orthographic view in the form of a mini-map that will be placed on the top-right corner of the screen. Another functionality that comes with mini-map is that the user can see the exact location at which the user is currently standing in the virtual campus/world.
5. Module-5: Advertorial display boards at various locations (in the virtual world):
As the main objective of this project is to give a familiarisation of the campus by virtual means, it is important that sign-boards/direction-boards should be displayed at appropriate places so that even the user (who is looking into the campus for the very first time) don’t get lost at any point in time.
6. Module-6
Once all the above modules are executed successfully, the final step is to analyse all the objectives as per the expected requirements and look for any possible scope of enhancing the visuals.
